The PartBlack Project
The PartBlack Project is a photography and Q&A series documenting the images and experiences of individuals with some Black/African ancestry. Unfortunately, when Covid sent all of us into quarantine, I suspended the project. In the years since, I decided to abandon it all together. Recent reading & research has led me to the conclusion that any focus on color-based identity is unhealthy, and all too easily results in the sort of racist categorization that so many have fought to overcome. I’m proud of this work, and the project now exists as a time capsule, an anthropologic survey of a certain subset of Americans at a time of great transition.
