Catalina, 2019
I joined my girlfriend and a few of her friends on a recent overnight camping trip on Catalina Island. Despite having grown up in California, and living in Los Angeles for over a decade, I had never been to the island, which is just off the coast of Long Beach. I enjoyed the trip, and had a number of thoughts while backpacking across the dusty utility road, looking out of the Pacific Ocean, and back at the West Coast from a new perspective.
